Pellets & Briquettes
from Arundo
A sustainable alternative with an inexhasustable list of uses
What are Pellets & Briquettes?
An effective alternative
Arundo’s thermal behaviour and the combustion properties make it an excellent candidate for energy cultivation, potentially distributed in the form of pellets and briquettes.
Economically developed
As transport costs and storage are crucial from an economical viewpoint, the ratio energy content/volume has to be optimised. We participate in research and development to utilise strategies that will allow for the ideal management of the product.
Versatility
Other than their evident use of heating up homes and other buildings with a biomass boiler, there are many other options including: furniture production, cat litter, horse stall bedding. However, if you want to use the waste ash from the biomass boiler, it can be utilised as potash in your garden.
Why use Arundo for Pellets & Briquettes?
Here is a list of reasons why you should choose Arundo as your primary raw material for pellet and briquette production:
One of the most important environmental argument for its use is that Arundo is CO2 neutral and it is the most efficient alternative to food crops.
Once dried, Arundo is processed using similar methods to wood based pellets and briquettes, thus no investment is required into new and unknown technologies.
Its heating value equals to that of wood: 17-18 MJ/kg (dry matter value)
GR biomass | Moisture content (%) | Energy value (MJ/kg) | Water absorbing |
Pellets | < 10 | 17-18 | yes |
Briquette | < 10 | 17-18 | yes |
Torrefied GR | 4-5 | 22 | no |
Biochar | 3-4 | 32 | yes |
