Arundo has an outstandingly high growth rate and resultant annual biomass yield meaning it can take a significantly larger amount of contamination out of the soil compared to other plants.

It has an intense transpiration, that can process up to 32 ML/Ha/year.

With a high metabolism rate and strong oxidative and detoxifying enzyme activities, organic contamination break down is faster than most other plants.

Arundo is known as a low maintenance plant, but it has an incredible tolerance, ranging from 3 to 9 on the pH scale. It also has a tolerance to halogenated organics and to heavy metals.
